Hi! I am happy you are here! I am the owner & clinical director of CPC and I have made it a priority to assist with the mental health needs of children and teens specifically ages 5 to 21 because as our mission statement asserts, "the sooner the better", when treating mental health. I believe that mental health for children and adolescents is just as important as physical health and that it is vital that families are being helped and supported in managing their children’s mental health needs. I have been in the mental health field serving young people since 1997 and specifically the youth of Winchester and surrounding communities since 2009. Since I have worked in this field for an extensive amount of time as well as through affiliation with the local schools, I have found a specific need in our community for helping children, adolescents, and young adults to ensure they can transition into their next chapter smoothly and at their best.

I graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science, dual majoring in psychology and social science. I earned my Master of Arts from Liberty University in professional counseling; I am board licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor through the Commonwealth of Virginia. My high school sweetheart husband and I have four wonderful children ages 10 to 18. I believe in making self-care a priority and practicing the advice I give my clients and their families. My personal self-care includes daily exercise; yoga; listening to all kinds of music - everything from pop, country, alternative, hip-hop/rap, to classical and more, reading, and York Peppermint Patties - Yum!

When looking for help for your child, it can be overwhelming and confusing. I went into this field because I have always wanted to help kids and help families to navigate the unnecessary complexities of mental health. I have found that working with adolescents has been extremely rewarding and beneficial for not only the children but their families.

My goal is to help reduce some of the troubles that our youth and families face, from anxiety, depression, and anger, to loss, trauma, or adjusting to different phases in life. I have been in the human services field for 8 years, earning my bachelors in Psychology from Shenandoah University and then completing my master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I look forward to having the opportunity to get to know you and your family and helping to achieve the goals you desire.

In addition to being a husband to my wife, Lindsey, I am also a father of three children (2 girls and 1 boy). I enjoy being outside and being active. Fishing is one of my passions along with spending time with family, hiking, and discovering new things to do and places to go. I am an avid sports fan and you can find me rooting my teams on whenever they are on television.

Kids are my passion.  I have worked in the mental health field in a variety of settings and populations, but I always come back to the kids and the parents.  Both need support, understanding, patience, and education.  I love to explore the need behind the behavior a child is presenting.  What is driving that behavior?  What is at the center of it?  Once we figure out the need, then the true work begins for everyone.  I enjoy being there helping support that change and growth.  It is both challenging and rewarding.

I have been working in the mental health field since 1996.  I graduated from Eastern Mennonite University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Psychology.  I earned my Master of Education from James Madison University in Counseling Psychology.  I am board licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor through the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as a Licensed Professional School Counselor through the Board of Education in Virginia.

I am married to my wonderful husband and have two great kids.  In my spare time, I love to spend family time with them enjoying our home both inside and out.  I also enjoy kayaking, camping, and watching my favorite NFL team play on television.
